Year after year, the major industry events remain essential barometers of a market. This is particularly true in the property sector, where an emblematic international show such as MIPIM offers a condensed view of the dynamics at work: levels of investor confidence, capital flows and the impact of geopolitical tensions.<\/em><\/p>\n

This year, the industry players present on the Croisette in March were cautiously optimistic about transactions, with persistent confidence in certain fast-growing segments, notably residential and data centres, and increased attention to geopolitical issues, particularly the conflict in the Middle East.<\/p>\n

And of course, there's no escaping it: artificial intelligence has become the central issue. Both a lever for operational optimisation and a source of new investment and development opportunities, most often via the growth of data centres.<\/p>\n

But these highlights are not just about market trends and investment discussions. They are also key moments for meetings with Europe's property media. Over the course of a few days, thousands of interviews take place between journalists and executives, condensing months of preparation into record time.<\/p>\n

Then, almost immediately, everyone went back to their own activities.<\/p>\n

After all, deals have to be done, transactions have to be finalised, and other priorities quickly take precedence. But this raises an essential question: what really stood out?<\/p>\n

The issue: what journalists really remember<\/strong><\/h3>\n

With a succession of meetings, it is tempting to think that the presence and intensity of the agenda are enough to guarantee effectiveness. From the media's point of view, this is not true.<\/p>\n

Volume makes no difference. What counts is what journalists remember, what they choose to cover, and the image they retain of the companies they meet.<\/p>\n

The findings of our study Real Estate MediaScan<\/strong>, conducted by CDR with pan-European journalists just before MIPIM, confirms a well-known but under-exploited fact: communication is a strategic lever in its own right.<\/p>\n

While investment performance remains the most important factor in brand valuation, the quality of communication and the visibility of management come in a close second. Even in a performance-oriented sector, the way a company expresses itself directly influences the perception it generates.<\/p>\n

MediaScan: a benchmark barometer of media perceptions<\/strong><\/h3>\n

MediaScan, the CDR agency's flagship survey of journalists' perceptions, has been analysing the perceptions of major European investment companies for over 20 years. Launched in 2005, this year it has been extended to include players in the property investment sector and their key media.<\/p>\n

This first edition dedicated to real estate focused on the specialist and financial media in the UK and Europe, assessing the perception of more than 45 brands in the sector. The 2026 edition includes titles such as IPE Real Assets, Green Street News, CoStar and Property Week.<\/p>\n

Four key lessons emerge:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Investment performance remains the determining factor, but the communication and visibility of managers play a key role in the overall perception;<\/li>\n
  • Journalists are increasingly looking for in-depth sectoral insights, original analyses and direct access to senior executives;<\/li>\n
  • Formats that allow for in-depth analysis (off-site interviews, site visits) are the most effective;<\/li>\n
  • The subjects that generate coverage continue to be transactions, fund-raising, market outlooks and sector analyses, with continued strong interest in the content of thought leadership<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    In an uncertain market, a clear message makes all the difference<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    For several months now, journalists have been clearly identifying market volatility and geopolitical tensions as the main challenges facing the property sector. This view was widely confirmed at MIPIM.<\/p>\n

    In this shifting context, generic messages are hard to come by. What attracts attention are clear, structured and assertive positions on how companies are navigating uncertainty.<\/p>\n

    And while announcements of transactions and fund-raising are still essential, they are no longer enough on their own. Discussions at MIPIM once again showed that journalists now expect in-depth analyses and strong positions.<\/p>\n

    The most effective communication strategies combine two dimensions: proof through action (deals, figures) and the ability to interpret (what this means for the market, and what comes next).<\/p>\n

    The post-event period: a key moment that is too often underestimated<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Taking part in a major industry event with a full agenda is no guarantee of raising your profile or clarifying your positioning. In some cases, a strong presence without a differentiating message can even dilute a company's identity.<\/p>\n

    That's why the periods following these high points are strategic. They provide an opportunity to take a step back: identify the messages that really resonated, distinguish the key exchanges from the interchangeable speeches, and adjust your strategy.<\/p>\n

    In other words, to transform the intensity of the event into a more coherent and structured form of communication over time.<\/p>\n
